Codemasters is already at work on the sequel for Dirt 2, and we have been able to confirm that Dirt 3 is already in development. Dirt 3 will feature some new directions from what we saw in Dirt 2. Dirt 2 was an entire new direction from the original Colin McRae Rally series.

According to the whispers that we are hearing, the developers think that despite the many positive reviews and feedback they received from Dirt 2, they intend to take Dirt 3 in a fresh and new direction to keep the game innovative.

One thing that we might likely see is less of what has been called the “Americanization” of the game, as the developers are said to think that they might have gone a little over the top with that in Dirt 2. No release date is confirmed for Dirt 3 yet, but we hear that it is said to be on track for release later this year.
