Don?t pre-judge Bodycount

Turning Point is in the rear view mirror

Codemasters is going on the offensive to make sure that everyone knows that previous releases, such as Turning Point Fall of Liberty, should not cloud anticipation of Bodycount. Codemasters has not been really known as an FPS publisher and the majority of their success (or at least what the publisher is known for) are racing and racing related titles.

The last major FPS title which the publisher released was Turn Point, and despite an interesting story line the game itself was just not that good or playable. Bodycount is being headed up by Stuart Black, who was the person behind the highly successful Black on the original Xbox while he worked at Criterion Games.

Codemasters is quick to point out that Turning Point was not developed in-house as was Bodycount. Bodycount has a rich pedigree and high development goals. Codemasters is looking to build the start of a franchise for the long term with Bodycount, and it does appear that they have put the right people and controls in place to make sure that the title will be successful. Ramping up the press and public, however, to forget the failures of the past could be critical for the game to be successful at the cash register; and this is what matters most.
