No kiosks this time around

Wal-Mart has been looking for a way to tap into the used video game market space for some time, but despite testing the buy/sell/trade kiosk solution, the company decided to go in another direction. Apparently, the company has now decided to team with a third-party provider for leased space within their stores to make their next grab at the used video game market space.

According to our sources, a new start-up called Game Trade will be leasing space within select Wal-Mart locations. To start with, the company will be testing and perfecting the concept in five stores, with the company pushing forward to a national rollout, if successful.

According to our moles, customers will be able to buy/sell and trade games for both store credit and cash. In addition to games, it is rumored that movies and gaming hardware will also be offered. Wal-Mart believes that this might be the best road to travel to successfully make a dent in Game Stop’s business, and to generate revenue that Wal-Mart has had no way to tap into in the past.
