Atari has released a remake of the Start Raiders on Xbox Live Arcade. The re-imagined version of the game costs 800 Microsoft Points, or $10 if you prefer. A trial version is available for download, as well.

While the re-make promises a new take on the fictional war with the Zylon forces, although the graphics look better and  the co-pilots and transforming ships are sort of cool, it just isn’t up to epic remake status. In fact, with the lack of Xbox Live multiplayer it seems that the game just doesn’t deliver on everything it could have.

While we cannot endorse the Star Raiders re-make, it is worth downloading the demo before you make a purchasing decision one way or the other. Still, from what we have seen it is better than some of the other versions of Star Raiders that have been released in the past.
