That is the word from Infinity Ward upon release
A big spot of good news was released by none other than Community Manager Robert Bowling of Infinity Ward via Twitter. The PC version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will offer dedicated servers from day 1 after release.

That is right:  dedicated server support is coming back to Call of Duty on the PC. While those who have a dedicated server will be able to control their own servers and alter the setup and rules, perhaps the biggest advantage is the ability to control bans for those who don’t want to play by said rules.

While we don’t know the entire extent of the dedicated server support for MW3, we would suspect that it will be done through authorized server providers on a per slot fee per server for ranked play. It is currently unknown if Infinity Ward will make the server files available to allow users to actually host their own un-ranked servers. Stay tuned, as we expect additional clarification as we get closer to actual launch.

Could it be that Battlefield 3 played a role in this decision? No one seems to know, but one would suspect it just might have.
