Electronic Arts and DICE have announced some of the stats surrounding the Battlefield 3 open beta. The stats are impressive; and if they translate into the kind of sales numbers that the beta points toward, both EA and DICE should be pretty darned pleased.
Over 8 million players played the beta across all three platforms. Over 47 billion shots were fired during the beta. The 8 million players were able to achieve 1.5 billion kills during the beta, including one player recording a headshot of 635.6 meters.
According to what we have heard EA is close to 3 million pre-orders for Battlefield 3 right out of the gate, which is a good start for the game. With the release now just a week away, we will just have to see how well EA is able to do with Battlefield 3; we think it is going to be successful, but it is really just a question of how successful.
