Ubisoft’s new motion picture arm is said to have closed a deal that will be announced shortly, which is that Sony has acquired the rights to make an Assassin’s Creed movie. This brings to an end the behind-the-scenes rumored bidding war between the winner, Sony, and several other major players who hoped to reach a deal with Ubisoft.
Ubisoft will have creative control over the film, according to the deal that apparently is part of any film deal that Ubisoft might do. The deal with Sony is said to be a multi-picture deal with the option to continue making more movies in the franchise if the films are successful.
No word on when the official announcement will be made or when the first film will arrive, but we would not expect it before 2014.
