Xbox One with Kinect is joke

Industry vet dismisses Microsoft tech

Industry veteran Peter Molyneux has said that the Xbox One with Kinect is pointless. Molyneux said it would be "unthinkable" for Microsoft not to release an Xbox One without the bundled high-tech sensor but it really was "unnecessary" and a "joke.”

Microsoft has stated that the Xbox One would never be sold without Kinect, but Molyneux, who is also known for Black & White, and the in-development Godus, believes the company isn't telling the whole truth with its denials. He told Edge that Kinect was an unnecessary add-on.

"Maybe it's because we're in England, and it doesn't really use the TV stuff, but it feels more and more like a joke. My son and I sit there saying random things at it, and it does not work. I'm sure they're going to release an Xbox One without Kinect. It would be unthinkable that they wouldn't."

Kinect is heavily integrated into the Xbox One. The sensor is accurate enough to read heart rates and can be controlled by voice and gestures. Every Xbox One sold includes a Kinect, although initial plans to link the peripheral more permanently to the console were shelved following a privacy outcry.
