EA confirms NHL 15 for X1 & PS4

by on06 May 2014

New rebuilt from the ground up engine

Electronic Arts though its EA Sports brand has confirmed that NHL 15 will be arriving this fall for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It will be the first hockey game to see a next-generation maker over for the new consoles. (EA has also confirmed that NHL 15 will be released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 as well!)

NHL 15 will feature significant change including a new engine that has been built from the ground up to take advantage of the new next generation consoles. With new totally rebuilt physics for both the players as well as the puck. The game will feature all new player models that will have separate layers for the first time. One layer for the player models, one layer for the athlete’s body and the final layer the jersey and equipment.

As part of the NHL’s partnership with NBC, NHL 15 will feature commentary from Mike “Doc” Emrick and Eddie Olczyk, with between the benches commentary from none other than Ray Ferraro. This might take a little getting used to after all of the years that we have spent with Gary Thorne and Bill Clement. For sure it will be different for those of us that have grown up with the franchise.

While an exact release date was not announced, EA says we will see it released this fall. We suspect that likely means October or may be a little earlier.
