Still a few days away from release in North America and a week away in Europe, the review scores have started to filter in for Forza Horizon 2. Forza Horizon 2 which was developed by Playground Games in conjunction with Turn 10 Studios is one of the big exclusive titles for the Xbox One this year and one of several racers that will be released before the end of the year.
Based on what Playground did with the first Horizon, the new Horizon 2 takes things to the max with it being larger, with more cars, six radio stations to drive by programed by Rob Da Bank, and it adds the ability to take the racing off road. It does not have microtransactions (at least not at launch, but so far it seems like we will not be seeing any), it does have a season car DLC pass, and like other Froza titles you have the ability to purchase a VIP membership which grants you additional cars. Still from what we are hearing, getting additional cars isn’t an issue as the game is pretty liberal handing them out.
The reviews have been positive with the majority of the scores being 8s and 9s with a Metacritic rating of 86 as of the time of this writing. There is still time to get your pre-order in with your favorite retailer or choose to do the electronic download purchase. The game is set for release on September 30th in North America with the UK launch set for October 3rd. You can also still download the demo and play through it so you can get the free cars when you purchase the actual game.
Looks like a solid exclusive for the Xbox One and the rush of holiday releases is now in full swing and Microsoft is off to a good start with Forza Horizon 2.
