There is no doubt that Nvidia's launch of second generation Maxwell products has put additional pressure on AMD and the company is planning a counter attack.
There is still no word when Tonga XT is coming and this chip will at least have a chance to close the performance gap with the Geforce GTX 970. AMD is still working on it and it tells its AIBs to be "on standby" for the launch. It also helps that there is a high demand for Geforce GTX 970 and 980 graphics card, so the latter has been completely sold out at least in most of North America. The AMD R9 290, 290X, 285 and 280 are a quite a good alternative to Nvidia products, but they do need significantly more power to match second-gen Maxwell performance.
We have learned that AMD is planning a new game bundle, due to launch later this month. We could not find what kind of games it includes, but we heard a rumour that Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth might make an appearance. Please have in mind that this info comes from a single source and it was impossible to verify, so a grain of salt is a must with this one.
We checked the Never Settle Space Edition terms and conditions and learned a bit more about how the promotion works.
