Will cut connection time in half and add other improvements

A new firmware update for the Xbox One controller is currently in testing. Users that are in the Xbox Preview program can try it now, everyone else will have to wait a little longer.

The new firmware will cut the current four to five seconds it takes for the Xbox One controller to sync with the console down to about half that time. In addition the new firmware adds some "stability improvements" which are not documented specifically.

Updating the controller can be a bit of a drag because users need a MicroUSB cable that Microsoft does not include with the Xbox One or controllers. No matter because they figure most folks have one of those cables hanging around and they are likely right.

Last time around the firmware update for the controller really proved to make a significant difference in the performance of the controller. So it was worth digging up a MicroUSB cable and finding that Update Wireless Controller option in the System menu. They have improved the update process to make it easier this time around to update all of your controllers quickly and that is a good thing.
