Xbox Play Anywhere puts pressure on PlayStation 4

Microsoft just dropped a bomb on PlayStation 4 announcing that Gears of War 4 will be able to play on both PC and Xbox via Xbox Play Anywhere program.

The new icon will mean that when you buy the game digitally you get to own it and play it on both Xbox One and the Windows 10 PC. Your progress and achievements will be saved via Xbox Live and shared across both platforms at no additional cost.

Gear of War 4 will bring another innovation to Xbox One and PC gamers. Every co-op mode supported in the game will work on the PC and Xbox. Players with Windows 10 PC and Xbox One users can play together.

Microsoft demonstrated how this works at its press conference at E3 gaming expo. It is important to highlight that the Gears of War 4 is Xbox One and Windows 10 PC exclusive so you better upgrade your PC to Windows 10 as you only have two more weeks to have the free upgrade.

It looks like that in addition to the Gears of War 4, Microsoft plans to offer Halo Wars 2, Recore, Forza Horizon 3, Sea of Thieves and Scalebound as Play Anywhere titles.

Sony has a good play with PlayStation VR that might sell in millions.  Gears of War 4 will be available on 11 October.
