No SLI support for Geforce GT 240

No need for it

If you haven't noticed by now, there is not a single Geforce GT 240 on the market that features an SLI connector on its PCB. We found it quite awkward that not even one partner has decided to go for it, especially considering the fact that most PCB designs are non-reference.

The story behind it is quite simple as this card is considered a product in the low-performance segment of the market and in order to keep the price at US $99. Nvidia has decided to ditch the SLI support for this card and keep the PCB less complex. To quote the reply of Nvidia: "We (Nvidia) did not see it fit for this product."

The bottom line is that you can find a cheap GTX 2xx card which will in any case case end up faster than two GT 240 cards in SLI and it is evenly priced, if not even cheaper.

Bear in mind that this is a official statement from Nvidia, and it certainly makes sense. Geforce GT 240, Geforce GT 220 and Geforce G210 were launched on the market to keep Nvidia's name in the press loop while Fermi is being prepared and these were the cards that were made for OEM's in particular. We doubt that these GPUs will maintain any high market share in the long run.
