AMD is looking to refresh its mainstream and entry level line-up with three new cards, based on the Caicos and Turks cores.
We already talked about the Caicos-based HD 6450, but the Turks-based HD 6570 and HD 6670 are a bit more interesting. The HD 6670 is clocked at 800MHz and it packs either 512MB or 1GB of GDDR5, clocked at 1000MHz. As we said earlier, it features 480 stream processors and 24 texture units.
The HD 6570 will ship in DDR3 and GDDR5 flavours. Like its big brother, it also packs 480 shaders, but it is clocked at 650MHz. It will be available with 512MB to 2GB of DDR3 memory clocked at 900MHz, or with 512MB to 1GB of GDDR5 clocked at 1000MHz.
Both Turks cards feature a 128-bit memory bus and in terms of features, they are on par with the rest of the 6000-series. However, if you were hoping to walk into a shop and buy one of them, think again. AMD says they’re for OEMs only, but this will change, although it will probybly take some time before they show up in retail.
