Radeon HD 7000 to ship in January

by on30 November 2011

Journalists get a taste in December

Our friends from Nordichardware are reporting that that Radeon HD 7000 series, based on 28nm Southern Island chips briefing is happening on December 5th in London.

This will be the event where journalists from the Nordic countries and UK learn about AMD new 28nm cards. On December 8th, the same event happens in Munich for DACH journalists and most likely there won’t be any details about card performance as the cards are only shipping in January.

Benchmarketing is happening before that time but we don’t know yet when AMD plans to lift the NDA on these cards information. We will do our best to find out. A few AMD partners have told us that they don’t expect to start selling these cards before January time and that they still have healthy sock of Radeon 6000 cards with a slight shortage of high-end cards. People were buying a lot of cards due to many hot titles launched this autumn.

Naturally 28nm chips are faster than both NV Fermi based cars and the Radeon 6000 soon to become legacy line, but we have no idea how Radeon HD 7000 series will stack up against the GK 100 generation, Geforce Kepler that is.
