Mobile HD7000 parts tip up in HP, Asus notebooks
First taste of AMD’s next gen
AMD’s first HD 7000 series mobile chips have popped up in a couple of listings and we reckon we are just weeks away from launch.
German hacks spotted the HD 7670M in a mid-range 15-icher from Asus. The Asus X53TK is based on AMD’s A6-3420M APU with integrated HD 6520G graphics, but it also boasts HD 7670M discrete graphics. This is a Thames XT chip, with 128-bit DDR3 memory and the clocks should be 600/900MHz for the GPU and memory.
HP is offering another Thames XT part in its Envy 17-incher. However, it is the 7690M, with GDDR 5 memory clocked at 800MHz.
We still don’t know the exact launch date, but we guess you will be able to pick up a notebook with 28nm graphics by Christmas, at least in major markets.
