AMD’s next generation is in the works, but in the meantime AMD decided to pull a few PR punches. In its latest Never Settle video, AMD pokes fun at Nvidia, claiming that most AAA games are developed with Radeons in mind. Furthermore it notes that Nvidia is the leader in phone graphics, while AMD is the preferred choice for PC and console gamers. Actually that isn’t entirely true. Nvidia is not the phone GPU leader, at least not yet, but things might change with the Tegra 4/4i.
AMD also points out that Radeons with 3GB of memory are way better at higher resolutions than their Geforce counterparts, which feature 2GB of RAM, at least in their reference flavour.
However, the real message has nothing to do with silicon and performance. AMD is basically using the opportunity to talk up its Never Settle Reloaded bundle, and it has every right to. The bundle features top games such as Crysis 3, Bioshock: Infinite, Tomb Raider and Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, which translates into about $185 of value on high-end cards.
It’s always nice to see industry heavyweight slugging it out with funny ads and PR campaigns, but what we’d really like to see are some HD 8000 desktop cards and they might show up sooner than expected.
Check out the video after the break.
