Packing a higher clocked GPU and a special RGB LED backplate, the MSI GTX 1080 Gaming Z has been spotted by Videocardz.com and is currently the fastest graphics card in MSI's GTX 1080 arsenal, at least if and until the Lightning Edition comes along.
Still featuring MSI's Twin Frozr VI cooler with two fans, the GTX 1080 Gaming X uses the same color scheme as the GTX 1080 Gaming X and comes with the same custom PCB with Military Class 4 components and 10-phase VRM, drawing power from 8-pin and 6-pin PCIe power connectors. MSI also added a custom RGB LED lit backplate for the Gaming Z Edition.
The new MSI GTX 1080 Gaming Z also features somewhat higher OC Mode GPU clocks, hitting 1771MHz for the GPU base and 1911MHz for the GPU Boost clocks. This is over 60MHz higher compared to the clocks on the GTX 1080 Gaming X graphics card. Although not detailed, the 8GB of GDDR5X memory will probably be running at 10108MHz, just as on the Gaming X version.
The new MSI GTX 1080 Gaming Z has already been spotted for pre-order over at Overclockers.co.uk with a price set at £755.99 (US $980/€885).
