Considered as Nvidia's counter-attack to the AMD Vega GPU launch, especially the Radeon Pro Vega Frontier Edition and the new Radeon Pro WX 9100, the new Geforce 385.12 Beta driver expands the feature-set of the Titan Xp graphics card with features that were previously reserved only for the Quadro line of graphics cards. 

While we have no specific details regarding these features or performance improvements, Nvidia did note that it should bring up to "3x more performance" in applications such as Maya.

Bear in mind that the the Titan Xp is still priced at US $1,199, which is a good $200 over the standard Radeon Vega Frontier Edition. On the other hand, it does pack Nvidia's fully-enabled GP102 GPU with 3840 CUDA cores, 240 TMUs, 96 ROPs and 12GB of GDDR5X memory on a 384-bit memory interface, offering 547.6 GB/s of memory bandwidth, much higher than the 484 GB/s on the Radeon Vega Frontier Edition. 

This also shows that Nvidia has crippled the Titan Xp and has just unlocked its full potential, which is why competition is always good.
