Asus and Noctua team up for Geforce RTX 4080 Noctua Edition graphics card

by on20 March 2023

Promises the quietest card in its class, but at a price

Following the success of its previous Noctua Edition graphics cards, namely the RTX 3080 and the 3070 Noctua Edition, Asus and Noctua have decided to team up again on the latest collaboration, the Asus Geforce RTX 4080 Noctua Edition. Featuring an intricate cooling system, the new card promises to be the quietest card in its class.

Unlike the previous two Noctua Edition cards, the new Asus Geforce RTX 4080 Noctua Edition has a completely re-designed cooler in order to achieve maximum thermal efficiency. By switching from three slim 110mm fans to two Nocta NF-A12x25 PWM 120mm fans, as well as adding a custom heatsink with vapour chamer and a total of five (instead of two) 8mm heatpipes, alongside three additional 6mm heatpipes, the Asus Geforce RTX 4080 Noctua Edition should bring significantly lower temperatures as well as lower overall noise.

"Building on the success of our previous collaboration, we are delighted to present the ASUS GeForce RTX 4080 Noctua Edition. Once again, we have combined our expertise with Noctua's mastery of low-noise cooling to create a graphics card that offers an unparalleled experience without compromising on noise levels, reflecting the strength and innovation of our collaboration," said Kent Chien (Corporate Vice President and General Manager of the ASUS Multimedia Business Unit).

"The first two Noctua Edition graphics cards were a resounding success, so we're proud to continue our partnership with ASUS", says Roland Mossig (Noctua CEO), "Like with the previous Noctua Edition cards, we've closely cooperated with ASUS to create the quietest card in its class, bringing our signature low noise levels to the GeForce RTX 4080 series."

Surprisingly, Asus decided to build the new Asus Geforce RTX 4080 Noctua Edition on the foundation of the TUF Gaming Geforce RTX 4080 rather than the STRIX model, but Asus must had its reasons.

In terms of specifications, the Asus Geforce RTX 4080 Noctua Edition works at 2595MHz default GPU Boost clock and 2625MHz OC mode GPU Boost clock, packs 9728 CUDA cores and comes with 16GB of 22.4Gbps GDDR6X memory on a 256-bit memory interface.

The rest of the features, in addition to the cool look of the "Noctua brown" card that takes up 4.3-slots, according to Asus' own specification sheet, it also features the aforementioned dual BIOS options, 0dB technology, and Asus' own GPU Tweak III.

The Asus Geforce RTX 4080 Noctua Edition should be available soon but such customization comes with a rather high price, and this one will go to an insane MSRP of $1650. That is pretty much $450 over the usual $1200 MSRP for the RTX 4080, and it is up to you to decide if that price premium is really worth it.
