Recently imposed import restrictions left Nvidia in a rather difficult situation, and the solution is a cut-down version of the Geforce RTX 4090 which has 14592 CUDA cores and 456 Tensor cores, a significant reduction from 16384 CUDA cores and 512 Tensor cores. The reduction in CUDA and Tensor cores apparently does not put the new RTX 4090D on the US restriction list.
The new Geforce RTX 4090D looks identical to the original RTX 4090, which does not come as a surprise, and Nvidia also kept the same memory configuration with 24GB of 21Gbps GDDR6X memory on a 384-bit memory interface. The TDP is also slightly lowered down to 425W. Plenty of China-based Nvidia partners have announced their new versions of the Geforce RTX 4090D, and it appears that Nvidia is also keeping the same 12,999 RMB price.
