AMD reintroduces Anti-Lag+ as Anti-Lag 2

by on24 May 2024

Requires game integration and already available in Counter-Strike 2

AMD has now officially reintroduced the new Anti-Lag, now simply called the Anti-Lag 2, after the Anti-Lag+ was pulled due to leading ban in some games like Counter-Strike 2, COD: Modern Warfare 2, Apex Legends, and others.

Early this year, AMD promised that Anti-Lag+ would be coming back soon, but it took them quite some time to bring it back. Hopefully, this time, AMD has done it right as it was developed in partnership in Valve. Unlike Anti-Lag+ the new Anti-Lag 2 does need game integration so it does not work at a driver level like the Anti-Lag+, but it also means it ensures that the game support is properly tested and it does not lead to a ban.

AMD also took the time to add support for additional GPUs, as the Anti-Lag+ only supported RDNA 3-based GPUs, while the new Anti-Lag 2 also supports Radeon RX 5000 and 6000 series GPUs as well as Ryzen 6000 series APUs.

The AMD Anti-Lag 2 is currently available as a technical preview, and thus it currently works only in a single game, Counter-Strike 2. In order to make it work, you need the latest version of the game as well as the special driver from AMD's support page.
