Blast from the past gets more VRAM

ASRock has launched a new version of the Radeon RX 6500 XT that will feature 8GB of VRAM and be a part of its Phantom Gaming lineup.

As spotted by Videocardz.com, the new ASRock Radeon RX 6500 XT will get double the VRAM, hitting 8GB, which is not a new thing as Sapphire did a similar thing with its Radeon RX 6500 XT PULSE. In case you missed it, the Radeon RX 6500 XT launched over two years ago and this entry-level graphics card comes with Navi 24 GPU with 1,024 Stream Processors. Despite getting double the VRAM clocked at 18Gbps, it still sticks to a 64-bit memory interface, which leaves it with a maximum memory bandwidth of 144GB/s.

Although an entry-level RDNA2-based graphics card, the Radeon RX 6500 XT is still very popular, packing more punch than AMD's integrated GPUs. Of course, bear in mind that it supports 4 PCIe Gen4 lanes, which is not a big deal, but it also comes with only two display outputs, which might be a big deal for some users.

ASRock did not announce the availability date or the price, but it was spotted in Japan for about $210.
