Radeon RX 470 goes to notebooks

Alienware has just unveiled its updated notebook lineup and it seems that Tobii eye-tracking software and Nvidia Pascal GPUs aren't the only update as AMD has squeezed in with its Radeon RX 470 graphics card as well.

From Radeon RX 480 GPUs to Radeon R9 M470X.

On Thursday, AMD took the wraps off its Q2 earnings results and revealed a surprising upswing in revenue momentum that many investors anticipated would not emerge until Q3 at the earliest.

AMD has an update for everyone who has a Radeon RX 480 and is afraid that the card might fry the PCIe slot on the motherboard. The new driver, that solves the problem and increases performance by up to 3 percent should be out today, July 7th. 

RX 480 has everything fully enabled

AMD Polaris 10 Senior Product Manager Evan Groenke has denied that the Polaris 10 has disabled Compute Units (CUs) and the RX 480 comes fully enabled with 2304 Stream Processors.

OcUK, the Overclockers UK has sold more than 1000 Radeon RX 480 cards at launch. Although to be fair to Nvidia, the etailer added that they also managed to shift 1000 Geforce GTX 1080 cards on their launch too [so much for the rumour that Nvidia sampled only small volume to the etailers.ed]

AMD has officially launched its first graphics card based on the new Polaris GPU architecture and 14nm FinFET manufacturing process, the Radeon RX 480.

Amazon UK has a pair of XFX RX 480 Radeon graphics cards for sale but listed them as "temporarily out of stock" before taking the advert down. They didn't even give us time to get a screen shot.

8GB version priced at US $179

With its agressive pricing move on the Radeon RX 480, AMD has no choice but to continue the same thing with the lower positioned Radeon RX 470, which should end up with a US $149 MSRP for the 4GB version.
