4G 5G summit: What is important for the future

Keith Kressin, senior VP of product management at Qualcomm, has just given us a quick overview on the state of Snapdragon 820 and 821, and has discussed what will be important for the future of Snapdragon.

US first Snapdragon 821 device

It looks like that if you order the Pixel by Google Phone, you might get one in the US on October 20th. It looks like that first batch includes both the smaller 5-inch and 5.5-inch version and is tailored for the Verizon network. 

Xiaomi Note 2 Pro with Snapdragon 821

Xiaomi will launch two new phones on 27 September and both will have the snappiest Snapdragon 821 SoC.

2.4GHz, 10 percent faster at five percent less power

Qualcomm just released a blog post and gave more details about the Snapdragon 821 including some clock speeds and the fact that it needs five percent less power.

First Snapdragon 821 to ship soon 

Since early June, we have been closing windows on our summer advent calendar waiting for the Snapdragon 821 based Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe. Now it seems that the Asus Santa Claws is visting Malaysia first.

Same as S7, S7 Edge

Samsung will launch its Galaxy Note 7 today and it will stream events. The latest info is that the phone comes with Exynos 8890, the similar to what we’ve seen in S7 and S7 Edge but we have heard that there will be a Snapdragon version too. 

Android 7.0 Nougat and Snapdragon 821

LG has confirmed that the successor to the V10 called the V20 will launch in September with Android Nougat 7.0. This is, most likely,  one more Snapdragon 821 design win. 

6GB of RAM and 3,700mAh battery

While Xiaomi has teased plenty of information regarding Mi Note 2, a 5.7-incher with Snapdragon 820, there haven't been a lot of talk regarding the successor of the Mi Note Pro, but luckily a Chinese source has shown a bit more information.

Maximum clock 2.4GHz

Qualcomm has received an order from big clients for a faster iteration of Snapdragon and, guess what? The Snapdragon 821 is born and its Kryo core frequency has jumped from a previous 2.15GHz to 2.4Ghz.
