India gets Alcatel OneTouch Watch

by on14 September 2015

Alcatel's affordable stunner up for grabs in India.

We love the design of Alcatel OneTouch Watch. It's beaten almost all of the more established players in that respect. After the announcement in Berlin a few weeks ago, it's now available for purchase.

After reviewing what Android Wear has to offer, Alcatel decided to go their own way and develop a watch OS that works well with both of the leading smartphone platforms. We can't blame them, at the moment Android Wear doesn't offer any compelling features that can't be easily replicated.

The basics are all there: notifications of incoming calls and messages, music control, activity tracking including heart rate monitoring and even remote control of a smartphone's camera. And all of it is equally well supported for smartphones running iOS and Android.

Design-wise, this is one of the best smart watches out there. Even some mundane things, like charging have been done differently. For example, to charge the watch, just plug one end of the wristband into a USB port. Simple and clever, without extra magnetic chargers to pack and lose.

Well, it's now available for purchase in the world's second most populated country, India. And unlike in the US, where it should cost $149, it's up for grabs for only the equivalent of $115.
