Apple's gold watch is now obsolete

For $10,000 it is getting Beyoncé a joke

The fruity cargo cult Apple has shown how pointless it is to spend cash on its high end gear by obsoleting its most stupidly expensive product two years after releasing it.

Apple's famously expensive, gold Apple Watch is now out of date because Jobs' Mob cannot be bothered writing software for it, which is a slap in the face for those dumb enough to shell out more than $10,000 for it - cough Beyoncé.

As part of a whole suite of upgrades to its products, Apple just unveiled watchOS 5, the new version of its software for its smartwatch. And it won't work on the original version of the Apple Watch.

When they were first released, the price tag and the luxury approach of the new watch drew numerous questions at the time, since they were by far the most expensive customer product that Apple had ever made. Though the watches were in line with much of the rest of the luxury watch industry, most of the Tame Apple Press banged on about how these watches would last for generations.

While it and other first generation watches will continue to work, it is now officially obsolete and won't receive the latest updates or any more to follow.

Apple never said how many it sold but they were sold to the sorts of people to whom wasting money on pointless objects is their number one pastime.

Apple still carries the Edition range of its watch. But they are now made out of ceramic, and are far cheaper: they start at $1,299, around a tenth of the price of the original watches. We are betting that they will still be out of date in a couple of years.
