Toshiba develops 128GB embedded NAND Flash chip
Should be ready in Q4
Toshiba didn't waste time and started bragging about its new, and also the highest capacity, embedded NAND flash memory chip with 128GB of space. The new 128GB NAND Flash chip targets mobile/portable devices like tablets, media players and cameras.
The new 128GB NAND Flash memory chip consists of sixteen 8GB chips made in 32nm. The chip includes a controller as well, all in a 1.4mm tall chip. The previously available 32GB chip apparently just isn't enough, and in addition to the 128GB, Toshiba will show a 64GB version as well.
Both of the new NAND Flash memory chips should start sampling in September and hit mass production during the Q4. Looks like we won't need those microSD cards any more.
