OCZ has announced that it would completely pull out of the DRAM market and focus solely at the SSD market.

OCZ cited the weakness in the global DRAM market as the main reason for the move. The company claims it will discontinue DRAM production by February 2011.

However, the SSD market seems to be quite a bit more lucrative in the long run. SSDs currently account for 78 percent of OCZ’s revenue and the SSD revenues have increased 325 percent since last year.

Although it appears to be a justified decision based on shareholders’ interests, we are sorry to see OCZ go. In recent years the outfit has managed to make quite a name for itself in the enthusiast market.
