Still no availability date

While the 2.5-inch form-factor 850 EVO SSD from Samsung is already available and quite popular, it appears that Samsung is also working on a couple of other form-factors, including mSATA and M.2, based on the same design.

Tweaktown.com stopped at the Samsung booth at CES 2015 only to spot the Samsung 850 EVO in two new form-factors, M.2 and mSATA. The 2.5-inch SATA version of the Samsung 850 EVO already got some really impressive review scores mostly thanks to its new Samsung MGX/MEX controller paired up with 3-bit per cell 3D V-NAND as well as high 540/520 MB/s sequential read and write performance.

While Samsung did not reveal any details regarding the specifications of the new Samsung 850 EVO mSATA or M.2 form-factor versions, according to the pictures provided by Tweaktown.com, the 850 EVO mSATA will be available in 120GB, 250GB, 500GB and 1TB capacities while the 850 EVO M.2 will be available in 120GB, 250GB and 500GB capacities.

Unfortunately, Samsung was not keen to reveal any details regarding the possible price of the 850 EVO mSATA or the 850 EVO M.2 versions or the rough availability date but we will surely keep an eye out for them.
