The Flare X and Fortis series DDR4 memory

Following the launch of AMD's Zen-based Ryzen 7 CPUs, G.Skill has announced two new DDR4 memory series, designed and tested specifically for the  AM4 socket platform, the G.Skill Flare X and Fortis DDR4 memory series.

To start off, G.Skill has decided to return to its Flare series with the  Ryzen-ready Flare X DDR4 memory series which is built with selected IC chips and aims to provide the best compatibility and stability for systems with the AMD Ryzen CPUs.

The G.Skill Flare X series will be available in 16GB (8GBx2), 32GB (2x8GB and 2x16GB) as well as 64GB (4x16GB) kits with frequencies ranging from 2133MHz at CL15 1.2V to 3466MHz at CL16 1.35V. The G.Skill Flare X 3200MHz kits have the tightest 14-14-14-34 latencies but, as it is the case with the Flare X 3466MHz kit with 16-16-16-36 latency, it needs 1.35V to work.

The Fortis DDR4 memory series is aimed at gamers and is designed, the company claims,  as the most ideal and cost-effective DDR4 solution for AMD AM4 platform without compromising quality, reliability, and compatibility.

The G.Skill Fortis DDR4 kits will be available in the same capacity configurations but only with 2133MHz and 2400MHz frequencies. You can check out the full lineup in the table below.

G.Skill also tested a couple of those kits, overclocking the DDR4-2133 64GB kit to DDR4-3200MHz with tight CL14-14-14-34 latencies. It also managed to push the same 16GB DDR4-2133 kit to stable DDR4-3466 with CL16-16-16-36 latency. Both overclocking feats were done on Asus ROG Crosshair VI Hero motherboard with AMD Ryzen 7 1700 CPU and you can check out validation screenshots below.

According to G.Skill, both the new Flare X and Fortis DDR4 memory kits should be available worldwide as of this month.
