Austrians are still quiet about their iPhone plans but German T-Mobile has already announced its iPhone plan. It doesn’t look as cheap as „free“ iPhone that will cost you only €1 and will require you to spend minimum of €2878.8 or to pay €119.95 subscription fee for two years.

To be fair, for this money they will give you free calls in fixed networks, its own mobile network and other mobile networks within Germany as well as 3000 SMS messages and 100MMS. They will even give you a W-LAN flat rate and unlimited HSDPA surfing.

The cheapest alternative to get a 16GB iPhone is to get a two year contract with a monthly fee of 24.95 that over the two years costs you at least €598.8. the big issue of this contract is that it costs €0.29 to call anyone in Germany, 19 cents to text in Germany and you only get 200MB to suft over HSDPA which is definitely not enough. You will end up spending way more than these minimal €598.8.

Austria prices will certainly be much lower due to the feisty competition in this much smaller neighbor but you can forget on getting the free iPhone 4 from Orange Austria or T-Mobile Austria simply as you will pay much less than Germans.

UK’s Orange will give you a free iPhone 4 16GB for £75 a month or £1800 over the two years  but they give you pretty much everything for free including 100 minutes of free roaming in Europe zone 1 as well as 20MB or data roaming per month, all for £75 a month.
