Sources are confirming that a second Palm Pre is in the pipeline. Palm, which is now owned by HP, had initially commented that they were not committed to releasing any additional webOS-based handsets, and instead looked to move the OS into new directions.

Now (from the whispers that we have heard) a second Pre or Pre 2, if you will, is coming late this year or early next year. It will be sporting webOS 2.0 plus 1Ghz processor with 512MB of onboard RAM.

Little beyond this is known as far as what HP’s plans could be.
