Brits spend 658 euro using mobile apps

UK smartphone users are spending 658 euro a year via mobile apps.

According to research carried out by polling firm OnePoll, one in five UK smartphone users bought items via their phone, with an average spend of 40 euro per person. The survey of 3,000 UK consumers also revealed that 78 per cent said that it was jolly convient to engage in mobile commerce. A lot of them like spending on groceries while with an average mobile spend of 80 euro a month, followed by travel tickets at about 60 euro a month.

Peter Veash, MD of The Bio Agency, said, “The message for brands is clear: utilise mobile or lose a huge area of potential growth. Our research suggests that almost 40 per cent of smartphone users will choose a new handset based on whether or not certain applications are available.”

The UK has done very well at encouraging people to use apps to buy stuff with leading supermarkets like Tesco having lots of retail apps.
