According to a fresh report from Millenial Media, Android managed to grab 61 percent of smartphone usage on the company’s advertising network in July. This is a staggering gain considering that Google’s OS had a 54 percent share in June.
Apple’s iOS seems to be losing ground in terms of and in July it dropped to 21 percent. Most new smartphone adopters seem to be turning to Android instead. RIM’s Blackberry shed a point to end up at 14 percent. Symbian and Windows Phone accounted for 2 percent each.
It is worth noting that Millenial is not taking into account market shares or unit sales, but merely the use of its ad services. However, it is still a good gauge of market trends.
