It is nice to see the management of a major tech company actually care about users and their request, and we are glad to report that LG has changed its mind about Ice Cream Sandwich on Optimus 2X, and it was about time.
Some four hours ago, at press time, LG officially announced that Optimus 2X will get ICS, but of course, it didn’t say when. Here is the exact quote.
“?[LG Official Statements on Ice Cream Sandwich OS Update]
LG firmly denies the rumors that claim LG will not be providing the Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) OS update for the LG Optimus 2X. These rumors are NOT true. LG is currently in the process of planning the ICS OS update for the LG Optimus 2X as well as other LG high-end smartphones. Detailed information on the ICS OS update schedule for specific models will be announced, once the ICS OS is publicly released by Google. Please stay tuned for more updates from LG.
Thank you very much.”
The only concern that Dacebook user Kurosa Leizs shares with us is that Ice Cream Sandwich might be delayed many months from announcement till official release, but this is something that we can only hope it won’t happen again.
As you can read here, Gingerbread Android 2.3 was only available in late October for Optimus 2X, delayed for at least a quarter. Let’s hope that ICS Android 4.0 for Optimus 2X won’t face the same issue. You can read more about the issue here.
Again, it’s great that we have Cyanogen and that Gingerbread 2.3.7 was available for all supported phones, including Optimus 2X.
