Samsung reportedly struggling with 5-inch 1080p screen
Why is this a bad thing?
The first Galaxy S IV rumours have already started appearing on the interweb and they all have one thing in common. They all point to a 4.99-inch 1080p Super AMOLED screen.
Well, it seems Samsung is having a bit of trouble with the new screen. The display is proving very difficult to manufacture and Samsung is reportedly unable to mass produce it. Samsung has reached out to 3M in an effort to secure more advanced technology needed to print OLED materials to glass. However, take this with a grain of salt, as the rumour comes from Digitimes, which tends to be about as accurate as James Bond baddies.
Frankly we are not too concerned. We don’t want a 5-inch Galaxy S IV, or any other 5-inch phone. Of course, there is niche a market for oversized phones like the Galaxy Note or HTC DNA, but insisting on ever bigger screens on mainstream phones is played out and really needs to stop.
