Windows Phone 8 on a budget

During the LeWeb 2012 show in Paris, Nokia has introduced a new addition to its Lumia WP8 lineup, the Lumia 620. Based on Qualcomm's S4 Snapdragon chipset, the new Nokia Lumia 620 is a 3.8-inch WP8 smartphone with an interesting design and, most importantly, an attractive price tag.

The new Nokia Lumia 620 features a 3.8-inch ClearBlack 800x480 LCD touchscreen, dual-core 1GHz Snapdragon S4 Plus CPU paired up with Adreno 305 GPU, 512MB of RAM memory, 1300mAh battery, 8GB of internal storage expandable via microSD card slot and 7GB of free Microsoft SkyDrive storage. It packs 5MP main snapper with LED flash and VGA front one for video calls as well as 802.11bgn Wifi, GPS, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 and HSDPA connectivity options.

It features access to Nokia Maps, Drive, Transport and the exclusive Nokia City Lens apps and, of course, WP8 Live Tiles.

Aimed at the "younger" part of the market, the Lumia 620 uses a new dual-shot color technique that adds a second layer of colored, transparent polycarbonate on top of a base layer in order to produce secondary color blends and depth effects. It will be available with seven different exchangeable shells/colors.

The new Nokia Lumia 620 will begin shipping in January with a US $249 price tag (excluding VAT). Asia is the first region to get it, followed closely by Europe, the Middle East and the rest of the world.
