EE added 493,000 4G customers in Q3, up 72 per cent from the close of the last quarter, to take this base to 1.2 million subscribers. A spokesman for EE said that these figures mean that it is Europe’s fastest growing 4G operator. EE wanted to have a million 4G customers but managed to do this four months early.
4GEE has now been rolled out to 117 towns and cities, with plans to cover 140 by the end of the year. EE is also the only operator to offer double speed 4G, which is available in 20 cities. On the downside EE did lose 345,000 prepay customers, adding the revenue trend is in line with the industry shift towards contract so this is not really a problem.
