Packs Atom X5 8500 and Full HD screen

Dell Venue 8 family of tablets has been one of the more interesting offerings since it was launched, two years ago. Now Dell is about to launch the updated Venue 8 5000 and it looks like a winner.

German IT website giga.de has leaked images and specifications for the upcoming Dell Venue 8 5000.

The new tablet comes in quite a few configurations you can choose from. A HD (1280x800) or Full HD (1920x1200) display, up to 4GB of RAM, optional 4G LTE mobile data link. You can really tailor the tablet to your needs.

In any case, we're looking at the new generation Intel Atom x5-Z8500 processor, for a significant added bit of punch compared to the previous generation. The tablet will also come with a Wacom technology pen.Intel Atom x5-Z8500 is based on 14nm Cherry Trail Atom architecture and has four cores clocked at 1.44GHz as a base clock and 2.24 with Turbo clock. The Scenario Design Power Intel own SDP thermal rating stops at 2W which sounds quite good for a tablet chip.

The list goes on. You'll be able to buy a USB type C enabled dock, with which you can turn the tablet into quite a capable little desktop machine. Two screens, gigabit Ethernet, 3x USB 3.0 and 2x USB 2.0 are all supported. The new tablet includes WIndows Halo login option too.

And for a good measure, Dell is including its full suite of enterprise support options. Security options and service offering are all enterprise class.

We don't know the price yet. We're sure it won't be comparable to the cheap Chinese competition, but in this case, with the enterprise level of support, the tablet will probably be worth the premium.
