Mainstreamish performance

Xiaomi might launch one more significant mainstream phone called the Xiaomi Mi 5C. The phone is rumored to come with a 1,000 Juan ($150/€140) price tag and a potentially handsome design.

The phone comes with a 2.2 GHz eight core chip of unknown origin, and it has been rumored that this may be Xiaomi’s own chip, the MediaTek P20 or the Snapdragon 820. As you can see the reports are all over the web, we can add that Snapdragon 820 is unlikely considering the price of the device.

The phone comes with an HTC 10 like design, and has elements of an iPhone 6S design look and feel. It looks definitely more expensive that it will sell for. It comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow based MIUI 8 user interface, 3GB RAM and 64GB storage. This is quite a spec for the price and it looks like that many will follow this feature set and performance levels in 2017.

Xiaomi Mi 5S sells for slightly over 300 Euro, while a Snapdragon 820 based Xiaomi MI5 sells for €235, quite an amazing price for such a hardware specification. The Xiaomi Redmi series is also dominating sub $ /€ 200 market with a lot of great phones for the price including the latest addition, the Xiaomi Redmi 4 Note, selling for slightly over 160 Euro.
