Samsung has officially unveiled its entire Galaxy S23 series at the Galaxy Unpacked February 2023 event, including the flagship Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Built around an impressive 6.8-inch AMOLED 2X screen with 3088x1440 resolution, 1,750nits of maximum brightness, and 1Hz to 120Hz refresh rate, the Galaxy S23 Ultra is pretty much the same size as its predecessor, measuring at 163.4x78.1x8.9mm and weighing 234g.

It has a glass back and aluminum frame and this is the first phone that will use Corning's Gorilla Glass Victus 2. It is also IP68 dust/water resistant and the aluminum frame should be much more resistant to drops and scratches.

As rumored earlier, the Galaxy S23 Ultra, and the entire Galaxy S23 series for that matter, is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen2 for Galaxy SoC, a slightly custom SoC tweaked in cooperation with Qualcomm. It will be backed by 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB to 1TB of internal UFS 4.0 storage.

The camera system, which is still a quad-sensor one, got slightly upgraded, as the main sensor is now Samsung's 200-megapixel ISOCELL HP2 one. It combines up to 16 pixels to produce a 12MP picture with 2.4µm pixels, or combine 4-to-1 for a 50-megapixel picture, depending on the scenario.

The support sensors are pretty much the same as on the Galaxy S22 Ultra, with a 10-megapixel sensor behind a 230mm f/4.9 periscope telephoto lens with Dual Pixel PDAF, OIS, and a 10x optical zoom; a 10-megapixel sensor with 70mm f/2.4 telephoto lens with Dual Pixel PDAF, OIS, and a 3x optical zoom; and 12-megapixel 13mm f/2.2 ultrawide one. The front camera is now a 12-megapixel one with a 26mm wide f/2.2 lens with Dual Pixel PDAF.

The main camera got plenty of other updates, including better video stabilization, thanks to Adaptive VDIS, and you get Expert RAW app as a mode that gets multi-frame processing and more.

Samsung also kept the same battery on the Galaxy S23 Ultra, packing a 5,000mAh capacity and 45W charging speed, which is a surprise but at least you get up to 65% in 30 minutes, and the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 should be easier on the battery.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra comes in three new colors, Phantom Black, Green, Cream, and Lavender, and will be available as of today in 12GB/256GB, 12GB/512GB, and the 12GB/1TB configurations. The price starts at €1,399 in Europe and $1,199 in the US.
