by on20 April 2023

Comes with four 50MP cameras

Xiaomi has officially launched its Xiaomi 13 Ultra flagship, featuring Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, four 50MP cameras at the back, and best of all, it will launch globally.

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is built around a 6.73-inch 3200x1440 resolution AMOLED screen with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. The peak brightness hits 2600 nits, according to Xiaomi. The phone measures 163.2x74.6x9.1mm and weighs 227g, which is not bad considering it has Gorilla Glass Victus at the front, an aluminum frame, and an eco-leather back. It is also IP68 resistant.

Xiaomi paired up the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with 12GB or 16GB of RAM, and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The chip is cooled by Xiaomi's own Loo LiquidCool tech with fancy aerospace-grade cooling and a vapor chamber. The rest of the specifications include all the usual connectivity options, an optical under-display fingerprint sensor, and a 5,000mAh battery that supports 90W wired and 50W wireless charging. Xiaomi added Surge P2 and Surge G1 chips to monitor the battery and charging.

It is all about the rear camera system

The focus of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is its rear camera system, and Xiaomi went with four 50MP sensors. The camera system is developed in cooperation with Leica, and all four are placed under Leica Vario-Summicron 1:1.8-3.0/12-120 ASPH lens.

The main camera uses a 50MP 1-inch IMX989 sensor with a 23mm lens with a two-step aperture, f/1.9 and f/4.0. The other three sensors are all 50MP IMX858 1/2.51-inch sensors. These are placed under a 75mm f/1.8 OIS 3.2x lens, a 5x 120mm f/3.0 one, and a 12mm f/1.8 ultrawide with a 5cm macro lens. The front camera is a 32MP f/2.0 one with fixed focus.

It does not end with sensors and lenses as Xiaomi and Leica are bringing several new features to the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, including Leica Vibrant and Leica Authentic modes, a new 50MP UltraRAW mode, and the so-called Fast Shot mode, which snaps a photo in 0.8s.
