In order to make it thinner and give it a more refined design, Xiaomi has made a vertically stacked motherboard, making the new foldable 5.26mm thick when unfolded and 10.89mm thick when folded. Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 measures 161.2x143.3mm unfolded and 161.2x73.5mm when folded, and weighs 259g. It gets a new proprietary hinge system with 198 components and a 3-element structure. It allows the phone to protect the main screen better, takes less space, and holds it open between 45 and 135 degrees.
The main screen is an 8.03-inch LTPO OLED+ panel with 2160x1916 resolution, 120Hz, and 1300 nits brightness. The cover screen is a 6.56-inch AMOLED screen with 2520x1080 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 2560 nits of peak brightness. The phone gets an aluminum frame, glass or aramid fiber back, plastic protection for the main screen, and Corning Gorilla Glass 2 for the cover screen.
Xiaomi upgraded the camera system, which is a quad-sensor now with Leica branding. It features the primary 50MP Sony IMX800 sensor with OIS and 23mm f/1.77 lens, 12MP ultrawide 15mm one, 10MP telephoto (75mm) with 3x zoom and OIS, and a 10MP periscope one (115mm) with 5x optical zoom, also with OIS.
As expected, Xiaomi went for Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, pairing it up with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. It also features a 4,800mAh battery with 67W wired and 50W wireless charging. The phone runs on Android 13 with MIUI 14 on top.
So far, it is limited to China, with prices starting at CNY 8,999. Unfortunately, we did not get any details about global availability.
