Nine 65nm dual-cores die in 2009

According to the Intel’s current plans, the company will retire nine dual-cores by Q2 2009. The process for some has already started in November and December 2008, while most of these will receive product discontinuance notice at some point in Q1 2009.

Intel plans to retire many 65nm dual-cores, such as E4700, E4600, E6540, E6550, E6750, and E6850 that works at 3GHz. All these CPUs are based on Conroe 65nm, Core 2 branded dual-core. The other three to retire, based on Wolfdale 45nm are E8190, E8200 and finally E8300. 

The 3GHz E6850 and E4700 will be first two to retire, with end of life status in Q1 2009, while the others will get their product discontinuance notice in Q1 2009 and EOL in Q2 2009.
