2.8GHz 65nm Kuma

Prior to transitioning to 45nm dual-core K10.5 CPU, codenamed Regor, AMD plans to launch another 65nm Kuma based Athlon X2 7850. This is a faster version of its X2 7750 dual core and X2 7850 will run at 2.8GHz and come with 3MB of L2 cache.

This CPU should launch in early Q2 2009, and it will sit on top of Athlon X2 7750, clocked at 2.7GHz and priced at a ridiculously cheap €70 a piece. The TDP of this new CPU stays at 95W, and this CPU should last until it gets replaced by Regor 45nm dual-core at 2.8GHz or faster speeds, but this won’t happen until Q3 2009, or roughly summer time in the western hemisphere.

AMD still has a lot of catching up to do, especially in the dual-core segment.
