But will keep it available for now

AMD announced that it won’t have a successor to their low-power Geode family, as analysts claim that the rough times forced the company to focus on fewer devices.

Geode family, previously ownership of National Semiconductor, started its journey under AMD’s flag in 2002 and ended up being quite successful in set-top box, embedded and similar markets.

However, the company is planning to make this “very successful” processor available as long as there’s a market demand for it. Unfortunately, we don’t see it sticking around for much longer as Intel’s and VIA’s low-power offerings already gained serious ground, and since AMD isn’t planning a follow up, we can probably expect the EOL announcement in near future.
