Thank you Tegra 2

Graphics chip maker Nvidia appears to be back from the dead, despite being written off by many analysts this year.

After its special relationship with Intel fell through and no one was talking its GPU vision seriously, many of us thought that the Green Goblin was toast. However Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) reportedly has seen its Nvidia orders increase by 60 per cent mainly because of strong demand for Tegra 2 processors.

According to Digitimes TSMC said that it is having difficulty getting enough of the chips to its customers. Of the increased orders, about half of the volume will be used for Tegra 2, while the remaining will be graphics chips.

Capacity at the TSMC's  12-inch fabs is fully loaded and the outfit is set to expand its 12-inch capacity and expects its monthly capacity to increase from 240,000 units at the end of 2010 to 312,000 units in 2011.
