Faster unlocked Ivy Bridge possible in Q3 2012
Faster than i7 3770K, i5 3570K
It is still not set in stone, but there is a chance that we will all see an even faster unlocked “K series” Ivy Bridge based processors as soon as Q3 2012. For those who don’t know it by now, Q3 starts in July and ends with last days of September.
Currently the fastest desktop parts including Core i7 3770K and Core i5 3570K might get faster iterations. Core i7 3770K is an unlocked 3.5GHz quad core with eight treads and maximal turbo clock to 3.9GHz and the successor will be slightly faster. There is still no word about exact naming or clocks. Bear in mind there is no exact launch date yet, but that successor launches in Q3 2012, so in the worst case scenario it will be introduced in time to go on sale in late Q3 2012 or later.
Core i5 3570K is again an unlocked quad-core this time with four treads and 3.4GHz clock, 6MB cache and maximum turbo clock to 3.8GHz. The rest of the high end Ivy Bridge roadmap looks set to last for the remainder of 2012 and won’t be updated that soon.
We will get back to you as soon as Intel set these plans in stone and starts talking about even faster chips.
